Preparing for Halloween

Unfortunately it has rained constantly for the past 2 weeks and we are not able to go outdoors to enjoy the autumnal activities..collecting leaves, nuts and berries. Yesterday ,there was great excitement as we put up the halloween decorations. To day the children made masks..pumpkin and rabbit faces and much fun was had by all gluing and colouring.To morrow we will make a barmbrack, and place a ring,a coin,a pea,a stick and piece of cloth in the mixture before baking.At circle time today, I introduced the smelling jars and Vivienne and Leah immediately recognized the lavender, mint and rosemary from our “smelling” walk.The other jars have cinnemon, ginger and nutmeg which we will put in the brack and lead on a spice project later in the year.On friday we will have a halloween party and the childen will play the traditional games and taste the brack….
